Vegan Red Lobster Biscuits

Vegan Red Lobster Biscuits

The boyfriend is basically addicted to these biscuits. He rants and raves about eating them, nearly getting me to go to Red Lobster just so he could have some. I knew that the only thing I could do to avoid going out to eat on […]

Lemon-Lime Soda Wings

Lemon-Lime Soda Wings

Buffalo and BBQ wings get to be boring or a same-O experience. I wanted to make something savory and taste so I applied a marinade someone had given me years ago for chicken with skin.  I barely buy chicken with bones and skin anymore unless […]

Vegan Armadillo Eggs

Vegan Armadillo Eggs

I have met people who have looked at me like a lunatic when I say that I love armadillo eggs. Why would you eat an armadillo’s egg? But no, they do not actually lay eggs. Armadillos are mammals, people! I was introduced to this Texas appetizer […]

Summer Artichoke, Sausage, Spinach and Tortellini Pasta Salad

Summer Artichoke, Sausage, Spinach and Tortellini Pasta Salad

I love Pasta Salad.  You can have it all in a cool summer salad.  Especially good after a busy Saturday or Sunday. I use to buy boxed pasta salads but always thought they were too salty or there was just enough for a side dish. […]

Peanut Butter Carrot Treats for the Puppers

Peanut Butter Carrot Treats for the Puppers

My dog is spoiled. Her name is Hadley Rose and she is a spoiled brat.  And it is my fault. But I cannot help it. She looks at me with her puppy dog eyes and asks me for a treat. And I have a hard […]

Slow Cooked Fig Butter

Slow Cooked Fig Butter

It is funny how a tree such as a fig, can torture it’s owner.  On years where the spring has lots of rain and the rain tables stay level, a fig tree can produce a quart or more of figs a day. This can be […]

Italian Style Savory Pancakes

Italian Style Savory Pancakes

I have a HUGE sweet tooth! But The Boyfriend does not. This is the problem in my household. I may make pancakes or waffles or some sweet dessert like a Peach Buckle. But he is not a big fan. He will tell me it was […]

Tarragon Chicken

Tarragon Chicken

Texas has had a lot of influence over its history.  The french settled in the northern eastern section of Texas and influenced our cuisine through the our neighbors from Louisiana. Now most associate the spicy and stew like qualities that the Cajun food is known […]

Vegan Texas Roadhouse Rolls

Vegan Texas Roadhouse Rolls

I used to love Texas Roadhouse. I loved their food, the atmosphere, and most importantly their bread. When I was younger, my momma owned a daycare center. In the summer, we had field trips, and one of my favorites was where we were invited to […]

Squash Pickles

Squash Pickles

My mother was not the type to teach old farm house techniques.  She is a genius chef but if you can not acquire it from a store or vendor than you did not need to worry about it. After getting Married and being young, I […]

Mama’s Homemade Salsa

Mama’s Homemade Salsa

One very hot summer, living on our mini ranch, my husband had a wild and maybe not so smart idea to raise 150 tomato plants.  There was five rows and with around 30 plants in each row.  At first we had a bushel of red tomatoes and I canned them as they were.

Then suddenly we had 10 bushel of tomatoes.

Now I needed to really get going on canning tomatoes before they went off and more came in.  I made salsa, tomato pickles, spaghetti sauce, tomato chow chow, tomato preserves.  It seemed if there was a recipe for tomatoes I was going to try it.  God had another plan after that and an early cold front came in basically took care of the tomato plants though I ended it up with a bathtub (literally) of green tomatoes. But that is another story to be told another day. (more…)
